The Women and Children's Advocacy Centre was honoured to be involved in creating a three week workshop adapted from the Viva Network book 'Celebrating Children'. This workshop is for people working with children in many different capacities such as teaching, day care, social work, home-care and many other types of ministries. Together participants learn about different tools and principles for working with children at risk, at the same time exploring God's heart for them and His intention to restore a future and a hope for all children. We recently held the first Celebrating Children Workshop in Kigali, Rwanda. To read highlights of how this three week program went, click here
The aim of the CRS is to provide an avenue for people called to this
area of ministry, which will develop their skills and passions, so that
they can effectively use them to touch God and disciple Nations.
Goal:To
multiply leaders who will champion the cause of children through
social, political, judicial and spiritual intervention. Students
experience God's heart for justice, defending the cause of the
fatherless, rescuing the poor, the weak and the oppressed.
Who is the CRS for?
The
Children at Risk School is for those who have successfully completed a
Discipleship Training School (DTS) and want to work with or on behalf
of at risk children around the world.
How much is this going to cost me?
We
base our school costs on the Per Capita Income (PCI) of each nation.
This allows us to cover school costs and make our schools affordable to
students from various countries. To find out the costs for each phase
of the school, please follow the links to the left.

Featured University of the Nations Courses
There are several University of the Nations courses that focus specifically on issues relating to women and children. Here are a few that we have highlighted:
School of Health Promotion for Development
The main intention for this school is to bring healing, reconciliation and restoration of peoples, lands and nations. The key Bible verse for the school is from John 10.10 – "I have come so that you may have life – life in all its fullness". The school will provide health and development education that is culturally and physically relevant to the location in which it is provided, and will train health workers to effectively empower local communities to recognise and deal with their health problems. The focus of the school is on promotion of good health and prevention of disease, rather than on treatment and cure. Discipleship will be a central part of the school, with recognition of the spiritual and biblical aspects of health, and intercession will be part of the lifestyle of the school. The school will aim to be an African response to African challenges. It will include teaching on the connection between poverty and ill-health; culturally sensitive education; diseases and challenges common to the region; and collaboration with local health service providers. The school will function in partnership with existing primary and community health projects run by YWAM in this area, making use of the experience and resources in these projects to develop the knowledge and practical skills of the students.
